Is anyone into making their own cards?

I started a couple of months ago, but as of yet am still a beginner.

This is one that I did yesterday, it is 3D and the picture is made up of four layers. The card is actually pale blue, I don't think my scanner liked the layers!!

I have two friends who make cards - they make such lovely ones and they are actually managing to sell them in various outlets. A hobby that can turn into a business.

Thanks dejavou, like I said I am only a beginner, and the thing I have against me is that I aren't in the least bit artisitc. Can't paint, can't draw, so its a bit hard going for me.


DaisyB, I am retired, but I still don't get that much time. I thought in retirement that the days would drag by. But no way, I think they go quicker than when I was working! In fact now, I don't know how I found the time to go to work!!!


Yes Rowan, some people do sell them. The first ones I made I just gave them to a local charity shop, and apparently they sold quickly. Don't know how much they were selling them for.
The only thing about selling them is that then it becomes a buisness, and at the moment I aren't that good!!! Still, you never know in time...................................!

That card is ideal for anyone who is into either gardening, or house plants.

I'm like you Flossy, make my cards on the computer...my grandchildren love it when they get their 'special' cards from Nannymaz!
I just use ordinary card stock, and wish I could find a way to fold the quarter fold one properly

Pam, they are easy enough to do even not doing them on the computer. You can get the pictures off the net, scan them, print them, cut them out, and then you have this. I just made this one for my brother in law who likes a drink!
I have made this in 3D though, there are three layers, but you can't see them on the picture here.

Thanks very much Liz and Flossy! It certainly does interest me. I will look further into it over the weekend when I will have more time on my hands. I am helping out at a creche at the moment so during the week my time is taken up cutting out chickens and sheep etc. and making playdough (very therapeutic) ready for the little ones!

Beat me to it, Flossy. I visited a friend today who has Carlton Cards. She said it is the easiest one to use.

I have CreataCard Gold 3 as well. I also have Gold 5 but find Gold 3 easier to use.

I was having trouble printing the inside of my cards, you know the verse bit.
So someone suggested I get CreataCard Gold 3. I bought one from Amazon, cut price, for £9.99.

Just waiting for it to arrive.

I am fine with the outsides of the card, its just the inside. I use loads of paper trying to get the verse in just the right place!

Well, my CD's did arrive, and they are great. I can now put inserts in my cards and even print a verse inside as well.

This is my latest. Well, I did tell you I wasn't artistic didn't I?
