Blackbirds

At this time of year we normally have loads of blackbirds feeding their fledglings on the garden and, this year, we have only had one - and that was some weeks ago.

We have had a lot of adults collecting foods but there are no youngsters.

I haven't noticed any birds of prey about - so perhaps a magpie has been busy or even a squirrel (I don't know).

I sincerely hope that we are the only ones who have had this happen.

I don't see a lot of wild birds as I live in town centre, but there is a definite lack of nesting seagulls this year. A few pairs have appeared, but no eggs!

A lot of folk hate them and treat them like they have the plague, but my thinking is, if you live at the seaside the seagulls come with it.

Down at the sea front there is a huge cafe/pub place. They open all the glass front in the summer and a pair of sparrows are causing great amusement because they have nested in the metal framework and are as bold as brass, swooping down for titbits, barely inches from everyone.
