1 lb minced beef
1 onion
1 oxo cube
1 tablespoon bisto
1 tablespoon demerera sugar
dash of ginger and garlic

A dessert spoon of cornflour (optional)

fat or oil for frying

Peel and slice onion and cook gently until soft. (I use a saucepan.)

Stir in the sugar, garlic and ginger and simmer for a few minutes until sugar is dissolved.

Put to one side

Gently fry mince until brown ( in a saucepan)
Drain off any excess fat or water
Mix the onions in with the meat

Make up the oxo and bisto to one pint with boiling water and add to mince.( add a few frozen peas at this point if liked)

Simmer gently for 15 minutes.

Serve on a round yorkshire pudding.

Optional. If you like thick gravy mix the cornflour with a little water and add to the mince just before it is finished.

This is delicious and so simple. cheers Penny.

I'm certainly going to give this a try, as I've never put ginger in with mince before...I'll try anything once!

Hope you like it Rosie. I do this quite a lot as the children love it, specially when I put it in the middle of a big round yorkshire pudding. I did a large casserole of beef today and again added ginger- delicious. cheers Penny.
