I cannot understand why somethings can be cooked from frozen, and some can't.

I have a couple of large plate size steak mince pies, that I made last week, in the freezer. They just need to be heated in the oven. I have always did just that, but a friend says she always takes hers out of the Freezer the night before.

Anybody know what is the best way?

Not sure of the 'rule' but anything I freeze I defrost first,
all else it says on the package.

I defrost first too - unless it says on the packet that it's best to cook from frozen.

Have just checked my freezer book and both ways are correct. It suggests that by leaving in the wrapper for three hours to thaw will stop the pie becoming dry. cheers Penny.

Thankyou all for your help, I bake quite a lot, and freeze most of it. I have looked at pies in Shops and they seem to say 'cook from frozen' so as I make my own (with no 'odd' ingredients) I though I was ok to do it. We are still here, after all. I am glad that you can do it either way.

I would cook them from frozen. You can even cook chicken portions from frozen and they should be the most dangerous!

Thankyou Monsy, well as I said, If I bake them I cook them from frozen.
