A baby's feeding bottle is the ideal container for making salad dresssing in. It helps measure the right proportions of oil and vinegar. As a general guide it's three parts oil to one of vinegar.
First dissolve any flavourings - sugar, mustard, salt, pepper - in the vinegar first, the having shaken vigorously add the oil and shake again.

Celery can be made into pretty garnishing sprays by first chopping the stalk approx 3" pieces. Next cut down each piece for 2". Pop into a bowl of cold water and leave in fridge for a few hours until they fan out.

Never use salt when washing lettuce, as the leaves go limp, but add a few drops of lemon juice to crisp up lettuce.

hite pepper will not clog the holes of the pot if you keep a dried pea inside.

Salt runs freely if a few grains of uncooked rise is added to the salt pot.

Garlic bought in quantity tends to dry out and shrink. Put peeled garlic in a jar of olive oil, they will last for ages and the oil can be used for flavouring.

Enough for now, more tips later if liked.

cheers Penny. :grouphug:
