This recipe is about 100 years old, or more.

2 lb sour apples
6 lb ripe tomatoes
11/2 lbs seedless raisins
2 level teaspoons ground ginger
4 lb brown sugar
8 level teaspoons salt
4 level teaspoons pepper
8 oz onions
8 chilli
2 pints vinegar

Peel, core and chop apples
Peel and quarter tomatoes
put al ingredients in a saucepan and boil slowly for 3 hours.
Pour into warm jars and cover at once

Keep for a couple of months before eating.

From me (Note)
Weigh apples and onions after you have prepared them.
Add sugar after two hours
Try 6 chillis (if large will be too hot using 8.)
Try when you have added and melted sugar and then add more chillis if preferred.
