This is very simple and very tasty.

Crush 6 oz of raspberries, loganberries, or a mixture of both.
Put in a pan with 9 oz of sugar and stir well over moderate heat until sugar has melted, stirring to prevent sticking.
Bring to boil for one minute
Remove from heat.
Stir in 1 tablespoon of liquid pectin. Jar in usual way.

Result a 1lb jar of home-made jam.

cheers Penny

Now that is a good idea for those of us with only one or two in a house. I quite fancy trying that.

Go ahead and try Rowan, after all if you don't get it quite right it's not that much of a loss. I thought many small households would be interested. cheers Penny

Can I still get pectin from the chemist - I know my grandma used to get it from the Co-op ...hardly any co-ops left!!

If you do manage to try --just a couple of tips to save any problems. Allow to stand 5 mins before stirring in pectin. Pour into jar. As soon as you have put in the jar, top the jam with a circle of wax paper or greaseproof and then leave until cold. Then put the top on, this stops any condensation and any mould. cheers Penny. :grouphug:
