Handy Tip

If, like me, you colour your hair and in the box there is a small container with the gloves in, save it; I find many uses for it.

To keep moths out of my wardrobes and drawers, I put a few lavender bath salts in it and a few drops of lavender oil. The lid has a small hole in it so I think the smell is released OK.

I find it useful to put sets of buttons in when they are too good to throw away with the garment.

Recently, I found a new use for it. Every night I rub some hand cream into my hands before I go to sleep and if you can't sqeeze any more out of the tube, I find that if you cut the tube open there is loads of it left.

I did this the other night and almost filled up the small container which will now last for about a week longer.

Know what you mean folk tell me I'm ridiculous when it comes to recycling andf I take it too far but it hionestly does worry me the amount of needless packaging. Like bananas and ptatoes - you used to go to the greengrocers and put your fruit and veg straight into a bag, which you took with you and now every single item gets a bag or a box or a foam tray for packaging. Stupid really because I take them all out when I get home.

I can remember reading (some time ago) that ASDA were providing bins at their exit for folks to leave their unwanted packaging in, rather than taking it home with them.

They were said to be going to throw the ball back into the food providers' court and said that it was they who used too much packaging.

I can't say that I've noticed any bins there when I go.
