Sorry to read you are still very poorly Jann, I do hope the doctor can sort you out. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr to BLOODY FAGS!!!! I have another friend who keeps saying "I will stop, I want to, but I just can't" YES YOU CAN I keep shouting at her!! 53 years my hubby smoked and he stopped in a blink, and tells me he should have done it years ago. He still has a bad chest, but as the doctor tells us if he had'nt stopped smoking he would'nt be here at all.

Thanks Corrie..

The thing is that I didn't start smoking until I was in my late thirties !!! all his fault as well,I was having a bad time at work trying to climb the proverbial ladder and dealing with three teenagers at the same time,so I went for some help from my GP who prescribed Librium !!when 'im indoors was told all this he who had given up smoking a couple of months previous offered me a cig,I took it ,he took it up again and we both carried on until ten years ago when he was diagnosed with emphysema and in uncertain times was advised to pack up or goodnight Vienna,so we both stopped cold turkey and have never touched another since..

My sister who is 8 years younger than me began smoking when she was 16 and is still smoking now in her late sixties, hardly coughs and is an anorexic.....it all sounds doom and gloom, but I have never felt so rotten in my life, the nights are worse,in fact last night I spent half the night sat propped up in the conservatory, thanks for listening x :grouphug:

Grrr, I typed a post and previewed it and it vanished into cyberland!

You and hubby have done really well to pack in the cigs, it is down to choices and you made yours which is great. My dad died with emphysema (when I was 9), he was a miner and worked long long shifts but Capstan did'nt help him either. My sis died with COPD at 60, we told her she'd end up like Dad but she listened when it was too late. Seeing someone fight for their breath and use oxygen tanks is not nice. This cough of yours has gone on tooooooo long Jann, the antibiots should be kicking in to work by now (normally after the 3rd day), I'd be insisting on an emergency appointment to get some different antibiots or treatment, a different lot may kick it into touch much better. Have you considered an air purifier?

Its just an idea, but it may help you. Your sis is lucky..... or is she? Cigs can cause so many other things other than a nasty cough, but, as before its down to choices, and she's chosen to carry on. I feel like writing to the producers of Corrie (Coronation Street) my namesake LOL because they've got it wrong with the Kabin scenes when the cigs are on display, the law is now they have to be behind shutters or a door, its unusual of them to get it wrong! Sending good wishes for you to have a much better night....and if you are no better tomorrow INSIST on that appointment! x

Once again Corrie thank you for your input for which I appreciate...I didn't start taking the antibiotics until the medics had been and gone which was only three days ago almost ....plus I was only give 15 capsules so I will persist until the course runs out this coming Wednesday, then I will have to request yet another appointment, that's if I can get through that is

My husband was also a miner of almost forty years and was diagnosed with emphysema ten years ago he is still poorly and I think I have said that he is due for an x/ray early Wednesday morning....we are not doing very well at the present time and thank you for the link re the air cleanser, might be an idea as we have a multi fuel stove in the conservatory...so on I/we go into the abyss of darkness, dreading the night time

Hope it gets sorted for you soon Jann, the steroids should be helping you by now but I doubt you'll be able to stay on them so they have to sort other meds out for you. Glad to read they're doing an x.ray though. Sending more good wishes to you x

I live with COPD on a daily basis Jann and know just how you're feeling right now :bighugs: Tell your GP you would like to see a respiratory specialist at the hospital, they are the only ones who will give you a straight diagnosis, if it is COPD.

You might also like to take a look at, and maybe join, the British Lung Foundation's website - I'm a member on their blog pages (under the name of elian). There's lots of useful information on there about COPD, its effects and how to live with it successfully.

I was diagnosed in 2000 and 12 years later I'm still enjoying life, though not at the same pace I used to, but then again which of us is?

You have all my best wishes for feeling better very, very, soon :bighugs:

Hi! Jann, I do hope it gets sorted soon, it does wear you out,
lack of sleep, continual pressure on your body.
Total ruddy nightmare, keep your chin up.xxx
