Do any of the members ..............

know what their blood group is?.
I ask this because I was given a card before my son was born in 1950 saying that if ever I attended the hospital to show the card because I have a rare blood group. Found it among old documents yesterday. Needless to say it will be thrown out after all these years.
I have never taken the card with me for many years because in this day and age they have a patients details on computer with an NHS number.
Curiosity makes me ask.

I'm supposed to carry a card too Maisie  but never do !

I'm A Rhesus negative  and, in the event of a transfusion being necessary, only my own blood type should be used - or plasma.

I too am Rhesus negative....it was quite classed as being a difficult type when pregnant especially as my husband was Rhesus positive,we had to stop at three children which was enough anyway :rolleye11:

Yes I too am Rhesus Negative B and when I had my son was told NOT have any more children within 12 years because it could be born with deformities.
I believe the blood can be drained from the child now and replaced because I can well remember when my son was 25 and me showing hubby an article in the paper about the break through and him saying that we were certainly not going to start again at our age then.
As if I wanted to after all those years.

It would be very handy Monsy for people of a 'caustic' nature! It would neutralise them!
