Postby dita » Wed Dec 28, 2005 5:46 pm

Many of us have to take medication for High Blood Pressure, there are so many different ones, Beta-blockers, Diuretics, Calcium Channel'd etc. so many of them. What is the best though, least side-effects.

I get Cardura (8mg) and Bendrofluazide (2.5 mg) - seems to work fine for me - no side effects at all.

I take Amias (Candesartin) which I think is an ACE Inhibitor, will have to check. (or it might be the calcium one) I do know that some of them give me a dreadful cough so I can no longer take them. I also take Plavix (Clopidogrel) which is a blood thinner.

It's an angiotension drug.

I take Candersartin and Amlodipine.

I have just been put on the second one after my yearly diabetic check. The docotor was amazed when my cholestrol was 3.2. I think he thought because I was a fat bugger it would be swimming in chip fat!

My cholesterol levels are low too Monsy and I refused to take statins. Apparentlt the WHO wants all diabetics on statins regardless. Not me, oh no.

I take atoravastatin for my vascular problems - I don't get any bowel problems with them and my cholesterol has always been under 4 - even before I started them.

I take Cardioplen XL (Felodipine) which is calcium channel'd I used to have 5mg per day, then was told it was not doing anything for me so he doubled it to 10mg, not only that he also put me on Natrilix (Indamide 1.5) a duretic, think I am now having too much, get dizzy sometimes and don't feel with it now and again, plus, my gums have been swelling up and bleed suddenly, according to the leaflet this is a side-effect. Trouble is we all seem to have to be the same blood-pressure these day's. The levels that are normal for last year have now changed. So what is normal?

I'm lucky! I O/D on food everyday. I wish you all well. The only consolation, I suppose is that suddenly, I shall be like Monty Pythons 'resting parrot'!

Nearly everyone I know is on some kind of B.P Medication. Doctors give you a cause to worry, but stress is one of the worse for upping it. NO YOU WON'T Ciderman. :men:

Cardura is also known as Doxazosin - this is an alpha blocker - dunno what that means though!! Bendrofluazide is a diuretic.

Just been put on a Beta-blocker, Temerit, they are nebivolol. Wanted him to put me on ACE inhibitor instead of the duratic but I finished up getting that. Think they go a bit far with the BP thing sometimes.

I have to go for a hypertension review in two weeks. Apparantly they will want a blood and urine sample too. The receptionist says remember you will have to fast and I said, well the letter didn't mention fasting so they can &%$*** off!!
