HRT..

I took HRT for over 15 years stopping approx two years ago...my decision entirely,and now I am suffering with arthritis so bad I am having to take pain killers,my wrists being very painful ....too much key board perhaps

My question is does anyone take it on here,and do you think it would benefit me by asking for it again? .....I am 70 just.

I was fine with the medication before no side effects as such.

I've been on it for about 5 years. No side effects and I am reluctant to stop taking it.

I took it for over 8 years had to stop when I got breast cancer,but id still take it again it made my life and my families much more bearable,have a word with your Doctor they can only say no.

I don't take it never have, don't believe in 'messing' with nature,

I had my change 18 yrs ago, never had any trouble, kept fit, did plenty of exercise, eat right, and still here.

I have never taken it either, agree with you Widget despite starting change problems with the shock of my mother dying suddenly in 1977. I was 40yrs old. Our body's reactions to trauma can often be odd.

I had a hysterectomy at 36. I was prescribed Medroxypregosterone (sp) and took it for about 5 years. Then I enquired about a massive weight gain as I was still as active and ate no more than before. The specialist told me I shouldn't have been prescribed that particular one anyway, so I just stopped taking any.

Things have'nt changed much, they still keep bunging drugs into us!

Like Widget I was so, so lucky! My mum died when I was 38 - at that time I began to get a few grey hairs whilst she was ill and after she died. I hit the change about 10 years later - and jolly glad of it I was. Yes, I had a few hot flushes at first - I just used to hang out of the nearest available window to cool down. But that was all the problem I ever had. Right now, at almost 63 I am fit and well! I never have been, nor ever will be on HRT

Josiclick, I think if you have arthritis HRT won't cure it, think about a alternative to treat the arthritis, something like Glucosamine might help, do a bit of searching, I get my 'pills' from

Lurline was on it for a while a few years back, but it really messed up her general health. I suggested she stop taking the damn tablets and she's been fine since then.

Thanks widget but as I take medication for high blood pressure I can't take any alternative medicine ...except of course the cod liver oil and garlic,which I have taken for years...and a lot of good it's done me

HRT is more for preventing brittle bones than helping with arthritis Josie why not check with your GP what you can take with your blood pressure medication,I take atenolol for blood pressure and never been told I cant take alternative medicines
