Update on the glossal problem

Postby vannin » Thu Sep 07, 2006 9:28 pm

I went a bit quiet about the lump on my tongue because it seemed to provoke a series of personal attacks by an Age Net 'someone' who was trolling there at the time.

I am tentatively resuming the topic because so many asked me. Admission to day surgery for slicing-off, was possible for this Monday the 11th. I declined, because next week and the following week (The Murder Mystery!) both contain a celebration meal for my husband's 75th. So now I am due to go in on Monday 25th. The surgeon has decided I am not a good risk for general anaesthetic and I am more than happy to have local instead.

Thankyou Rowan, Monika, Widget, Deja and Mgzy. Och I ken fine all the Tree folk are grand lasses (and lads) :grouphug: No eejits, no trolls.

The consultant is of the opinion, as we are too, that there is 'nothing sinister'. My appointment yesterday was expected to include a biopsy. But he decided against it, saying two lots of cutting the tissue....requiring recovery twice from the soreness - he preferred I should be 'spared' for the two celebration meals!

Then after the thingy is excised, it will be routinely sent to the lab for analysis, as is the procedure after most bits are removed anyway.

Mgzy, I am likely to be tongue-tied for quite a while, a pure joy for my husband and others  Our choir is starting to rehearse for the Town Festival of Carols in early December, when we take to the stage of our Swan Theatre, together with the Wycombe Orpheus and guest choirs. I shall opt out for this year because I have been warned to expect a three-month recovery period.

It will be mushy foods, I am thinking mashed banana and Tesco Greek Yogurt, which I always find very soothing on the mouth. Maybe porridge breakfast..and drink through a straw at first :rolleye11: Vodka and straw please!! :downhatch:

What deja suggested about sticking my tongue out at .........(whoever) good thinking, especially when it will look disgusting.

Best of all, a possible advantage may be weight loss if I can't easily guzzle sweeties!!
