What can I say?

Postby DaisyB » Thu Dec 21, 2006 7:16 pm

If I'm not around at times, this is why.

Having been suffering post-menopausal bleeding since mid October, my doctor arranged an 'emergency' gynae appointment at our local hospital. I saw the loveliest consultant yesterday, had internal scans and a Doppler test (for possible pelvic thrombosis). I have a strange searing pain in my inner thigh which my doctor couldn't explain.
Anyway, Mr Peter Larsen - Disney, (a softly spoken gentleman from Melbourne, Australia) a consultant gynaecologist, specialising in oncology left me numb. He thinks I may have uterine cancer and I will be called in to hospital within two weeks for further tests under anaesthetic. It may, of course, just be hormonal problems. He told me to try and enjoy Christmas and he'd see me asap afterwards.

I still feel numb above the shoulders, all my pain is below my waist.

I texted my boss last night to let him know how I got on and went into work this morning to find a big bunch of flowers on my desk. He has told me he appreciates my efforts in going to work but to go home as soon as I feel it's all too much.

I am trying hard to be positive, after all this is one of the more curable cancers, if this is what I have. Obviously I didn't get any sleep last night, I'm going for a nap shortly.
I know I have good friends here and you will know that if I go missing for any length of time it is not because I'm fed up with you or the the Rowan Tree.

I've unpacked the camera and charged the battery, printed off the user manual in English but that's as far as I've got at the moment Ann.
Maybe after a good night's sleep I will be able to concentrate more.
Thanks.

If this helps, June, three times I was told that I had things which tests subsequently showed that I didn't.

Things may very well be the same for you.

So .......... enjoy your Christmas and try not to worry.

I'll be thinking of you, along with everyone else.

It is miserable to have those worries at this time of the year but it would be miserable at any time, I guess? :grouphug:

Hopefully the tests will all be negative and show some simple explanation for the pain, like a varicose or blocked vein. Sporty young men also get those, in all sorts of odd little places.

The one blessing about uterine cancer, it is almost always completely contained and entirely curable. My close friend had that when we were in our late twenties, she had her uterus out but not her ovaries and never had a problem since. She already had all the children that she wanted and the op saved her years of painful periods. She could swim when I was sitting there like a lemon.
