If you recall at the beginning of February I was talking about another bone scan.
I wanted my son and daughter-in-law to have one so d-i-l requested over the phone for the appointments to run one after the other.
We have all had a letter to go on March 13th to have one and d-i-l has also managed to get me into the hearing clinic on the same day.
Now that is what I call lucky.

The reason I want my son to have one is because there is osteoporosis on both sides of the family.
My d-i-l wants one just to be on the safe side as she is starting the menopause.

Wasn't too long to wait was it?

Quite pleased that we can get things sorted out on the same day.
Its such a trek to the Leicester Royal from where I live but this way my son and d-i-l can take me in the car without me having to catch two buses to get there.

wOW! that is good news. Things do work sometimes to our advantage, hear plenty of the down side so a pleasant change.

Well we have all been done.
I must be a good advert for Fosamax because my bone density has really improved since I first went on it 7 years ago.
You could see holes in my spine on my first density scan but now its thickened up and I am feeling quite chuffed about that.

My d-i-l's read out is quite good but my sons is slighty under par.
Its up to him whether he wants to start taking anything for it now.
I cant see him doing it because he wont even take an aspirin if he is not feeling too good.

If anyone has any worries concerning osteoporosis I suggest you go and get a scan. Either through NHS or pay £40 to get it done much quicker.

I think I read somewhere that Boots were going to start offering scans for Osteoporosis £95

I certainly WOULD NOT pay that for a scan.

A man brings a portable scanner to our local pharmacy and the charge is £25.

I was done in late 2005 and April 2006, soon to make appointment for next month. It first pronounced me 'borderline' so the calcium was increased. Last April found my scan result improved to the right side of borderline.
