Old Knees

Postby Monika » Fri Sep 28, 2007 12:54 pm

For a few weeks now I've had a painful knee and hip on the left side.

I can hardly walk when I get up from a chair and limp for some seconds, then it is quite a lot better but not 100%.

Has anyone any advice or suggestions?

I haven't been to see the doctor yet, but if it gets much worse I will have to, of course.

Do you think it could be Sciatica Monika.?
That usually travels down one leg.

I get something similar Monika. You could try gritting your teeth and marching briskly up and down the room for a few minutes. It works for me.
It sort of frees up the joints.

Last week, there was a man on TV spraying his knee with WD40 ...... should I have a go at that do you think?

I'll try your suggestion VM (if you don't mind me cussing you under my breath until the pain's gone  )

I take Glucosamine Chondroitin MSM &Vitamin C all combined in one tablet and I have to say it's worked wonders for my aching joints. Not too expensive either

I've had achey knees for quite a few weeks lately - might try the glucosamine.

My husband takes that and he keeps urging me to.

I think that I will, starting tomorrow.

I've been taking the glucosamine for the past 5 days and, yesterday, I had no pain in my knee at all.

Today, I've been on my kneeler in the garden for a couple of hours and it hurts but only a little bit.

As far as I can see, these glucosamine do actually do a lot of good.

My hubby has been taking them for about nine years now Monika and he swears by them.
My d-i-l has also started to take them because she has started having trouble with her knees now.

I take the high strength cod liver oil. I did look at the glucosamine tablets but they are huge and I don't do too well swallowing my little thyroxine tablets daily (when I remember to take them) so the glucosamine would be impossible. Had hoped to find it in liquid form added to the cod liver oil but the health food shop and chemists don't have any such thing!

Amazing Arthritis Relief Safe. All-Natural. Very Effective. End Arthritis Within Minutes.

(note: they must be the golden variety, sometimes called white raisins, not ordinary black raisins).
# place the raisins in a shallow container.
# cover the raisins with gin.
# let the raisins soak in the gin for a few weeks until the gin evaporates.
# you then eat nine of these drunken raisins a day to help your arthritis. (note: nine a day is the number you see most often, but you'll find many variations of the number).
Gin-Soaked Raisins for Arthritis: What is the Background?

Where and when did this remedy start? Since this is a folk remedy, it's hard to say just when and where it got its start. Purportedly the remedy got its first real boost in the 1990's when radio icon Paul Harvey mentioned the remedy during one of his popular broadcasts.

Anyone heard of this???? I have not got Arthritis so can't try it.

Ann that used to be an old poachers' trick. Only difference was you spread the laced raisins on the ground where there were pheasants or pigeons and when they'd "had a few" they were quite easy to catch.

Of course I have never done that not even in my youth. :rolleye11:
