I had an eye test in March, and my prescription was much the same as usual. I have been having a bit of difficulty reading, and something just didn't feel right.
I went for another eye test on Monday and the sight in my left eye has deteriorated quite dramatically. The optician faxed his findings to the hospital, and phoned them. I have an appointment for early next Thursday morning. When I try to read, using the left eye only, there are letters missing in words, and things are sort of blurry. I am getting myself qute worked up about this, imaging all sorts. Any ideas??

Sorry to hear this Mazzy, I'm sure you will be worried about it but the appointment is soon, so you won't have too long to wait to get some kind of explanation of what's happening. Try not to panic.

As Rowan said, Mazzy, try not to worry (easier said than done, of course if I'm anything to go by).

That's a good site Monica. I have been trying to find out more info about macular degeneration - not for me I add, but for a friend of mine, and the information there was better than any I have seen.

It'll be alright Thursday - just turn out to be something and nothing!!!!!!

Didn't help having a 'friend' tell me of a friend of hers with similar problems - caused by a tumour on the pituarity gland!!!!!

Why do people do that!!!!!!!

Mazzy try not to worry if you read my post "one of those days" we were very worried, the hospital were brilliant, also my B I L had similar symptoms as you the hospital soon sorted it out to hes great relief.

Sure all will be ok Mazzy, but know you cant help worrying, think we all do having to wait and time seems to go so slow too.

Panic over...it is a hole in the macular and can be easily remedied....well, an operation etc, but usually very sucessful. He recommended I wear an eye patch for reading to help with the distortion, so it's a case of 'hey ho me hearties, and a gallon of rum'.
Just wait for the call from the surgeon.

Hi LLL it's what I said in another place. Looks like it's laser surgery for you.
No problems, honestly, I've had it done and was good as new after a few weeks.

I agree with what Rowan has said, Mazzy. It can be fixed, and I wish you well with the op....hoping you don't have too long a wait.
