Colonoscopy and Gastroscopy

Postby dabthoms » Wed Dec 17, 2008 6:37 pm

Just got back from the local hospital's day care centre an hour or so ago, having had a 9.30 appointmtnt. As my haemoglobin level was more than 50% less than it should have been it was decided to find out where I might be losing it, hence the colonoscopy and gastroscopy. Didn't enjoy either one bit, especially as I didn't get the usual sedation because of my heart and breathing problems. The day before was the worst though having had to take two sachets mixed in cold water of a laxative called Piccolax, one in the morning and the other 6 hours later. Very pleasant to drink but has an effect similar to a stick of dynamite. As a few biopsies were done it will be a week or so before I get the results form my consultant.

I've had that too, but with an anaesthetic, so I wasn't aware when the procedure was going on.

As for the Piccolax yeukk ! I didn't think I'd stop cra**ping !!
I thought the the entire contents of my abdomen, organs and all, were going down the toilet !!!!!!!!
