Sciatica

Postby toolip2 » Wed Sep 22, 2010 9:08 pm

I have had sciatica on and off for years. My right leg at the moment is agony and its liken to neuralgia day in day out. No tablets help and neither does massage or warmth or cold compresses. In bed its painful and I fidget about.

I cant understand why its spasmodic and most times I am clear of it. I do suffer with low back problen=ms and I think it stems from this.

Does anyone else have this horrid condition and if so what if anything helps? :groaner:

I had it years ago toolip and I was sent for an x-ray.
From that x-ray it was found that my spine had started to crumble and I was then sent for a Dexa scan which showed that I have osteoporosis.
I was then put on Fosamax to strengthen my bones.
I have only had it once spasm since then and it wasn't quite SO painful as the first time.
Have you had an x-ray?
More to the point have you had a Dexa scan? If your doctor cant be bothered to get you in for one you can pay privately for one.

Thanks for your sympathy. I have been diagnosed with sciatica and low back pain yuears ago. I have not had a dexa scan. I will ask my Gp about this. Thanks Maisie.

I have had a recent private osteo check and I am ok will need to repeat in two years time.
