Hampshire

As promised, here are some of the pictures I took in Hampshire the week before last, starting with a visit to the Mid-Hants Railway or Watercress Line. This is Ropley Station on a gorgeous sunny morning.

There are some very pleasant walks alongside the rivers Alre and Itchen and I managed to drag my OH and his dodgy knees out for an amble around Alresford. This is Alresford Old Pond, beside which is a very pleasant pub. It's lovely to sit outside on a summer evening so long as you're happy to be eaten alive by the humongous midges!

This pretty house sits astride the River Alre and was once a fulling mill. Now it's a private home and I think it's gorgeous!

Light and shade and a little brown duck on the River Alre:

This is Romsey Market Place on a very changeable afternoon. Fortunately, it didn't rain until after we'd made it back to the car and were halfway back to our hotel!

What a pretty place! The cottage is lovely although it looks a bit small.

It's always intriguing seeing English scenery. It is such a contrast to ours which is dramatic but has little history . Thanks for the view I particularly liked the cottage.

Than you all for your knd comments. I love that cottage, too, Ciderman; I think the sound of the river rippling beneath me as I lay in bed would be very soothing and sleep-inducing. OH observed that damp may well be a permanent problem in such a place but, I suspect, if I saw a 'For Sale' board outside, I'd be itching to to buy ....
