The one in the red, white and purple dress is my eldest daughter. The others are some friends she has made since moving there four years ago.

Nice pic.....

My son went to Melbourne four years ago with his wife...both worked damned hard and built a decent bank balance. His pregnant wife wanted to return to have her baby amongst her family back home after three years.
His job was making money for a giant retail group...he brought his ideas and expertise back here and in 18 months has opened four retail shops of his own in shopping malls here in Leicester,Derby,Nottingham and Meadowhall.

Shows what can be done if you're a grafter and willing to take the plunge.

Good to hear a story of success, pleased for your son and his family too.
My daughter is a hairdresser and has a lucrative business of her own. Their eldest son is an electrician and will soon be out of his time, youngest son followed in mum's footsteps and works for a business man who owns a lot of salons. He has won several awards and has been to Hong Kong and Hawaii as part of the award. Lucky devil.
Son-in law is a plumber and about to go into business for himself.
We are really proud of them all.

You both have something to be proud of. Lovely photo, fozzy, they always look so happy and healthy and you do have to work hard there.
I was thinking about your grandson here and wondering how he was doing. Twenty, time flies, I think the older you get the quicker it goes I hope you all enjoy the meal.

Did you celebrate Australia Day, Lacemaker?

I have had a very quiet Australia Day, Fozzy. A friend came around this afternoon and we went for a drive but compared to previous Australia Days, it has been very dull indeed.

I spoke to my daughter earlier and they spent the day picnicking and jet skiing. Lucky devils

We may be lucky enough to be in Oz for the celebrations one day.

Half their luck !

My two nieces and their families live in Brisbane and I have friends on the Sunshine Coast at Yandina so I have often visited up there. I hope to go again this year sometime. :sunglasses:

You never know - if I see from the forum that you will be there when I make my next trip I will give you call. This time we will be flying up and picking up a campervan from my friend's son on the Gold Coast (he has a campervan hire business) before traveling on to Yandina. Less stress this way otherwise it is a 2 day drive to get up there.
