I'm sitting here watching tv
with a warm rug over my knee
The programmes are cr*p
and the cat wants my lap
But he's useless at fun repartee
If I pick up my knitting, he's there
Claws all ready and fixing a stare
With one pounce he attacks
the leg I've just waxed
making me leap from my chair

A soak in the bath is a pleasure
Rare moments alone which I treasure
but here is the thing
why does the phone ring
and add to the day-to-day pressure ?

The FTSE (Footsie) goes up and goes down
when it's down I do nothing but frown
but when it goes up
I fill up my cup
then go out for a night on the town

Tomorrow I've promised to do
Some chores for an hour or two
I hate all that mess
but have to confess
I'll need Harpic to clean out the loo !

I dream of a long Saga Cruise
with Zoners, so many I'd choose
we would soak up the sun
have a great deal of fun
but go easy on cakes and the booze

I really do like Yorkshire Puddin'
and think that it looks very good in
between carrots and peas
with gravy ? Yes please
can I follow with tonic and gin in?

A squirrel paid us a visit today
ate some nuts and then scurried away
he's so comical to watch

There are no plans around here
to line the streets and cheer
they're a miserable lot

A schmooze I could do with right now

The weather's not bad

and I'm glad that she put on her coat
