Nightfall, Maisie's challenge

Nightfall, Maisie's challenge

Nightfall

It’s nightfall again
Darkness envelopes this old house
It’s all so quiet
But for the scratching of a mouse.

In the moonlight
Out there on the front lawn
Is the old badger
With his mangy coat and both ears torn

I can hear dripping
It’s the leaking bathroom tap
I must remember
To call a plumber, him with the flat cap

The children are settled
Tucked tightly into their beds
I wonder if they’ve
Happy dreams going round their little heads

Listen, did you hear
A vixen calling for her mate
And next doors cat
Howling outside the back gate

Now the creaking timbers
The maritime ones up in the roof
Where we played
On rainy days in our distant youth

Oh what’s the point
In talking? You’re in the land of nod
You are snoring loudly
I’m awake here on my tod

Now my lids are drooping
I shall put away my book
Mum’s coming tomorrow
For dinner, what on earth shall I cook?

Thanks Monsy. Maywalk/Maisie set me the challenge to write on the subject of nightfall. I hope she likes it.

ITS SUPER DAISY :D :D :D :D
I loved it.

You have a talent that needs to be nurtured.

Think of something nice or funny that has happened in your life and build a poem round that incident.

Get cracking and write whatever you can remember.
DONT forget to keep a copy of every poem that you compose.

It must be something that you have found you enjoy doing because the words are coming easily.
WELL DONE.

You are all too kind, thank you so much. I have another one that I wrote about work, I'll start another thread with it.
No one is more shocked than me over this newfound 'talent'.

Its not being kind Daisy its stating a fact.

Whatever has brought this latent talent out just get stuck in and write as many that you can.

You seem to be enjoying it AND it will take your mind off other things. :D

Good Luck.

That was a really wonderful poem, I'm pleased Maisie prompted me to read it.
