My Workplace

My Workplace

Shall I tell you something
About my place of work?
The company is Scania
And our boss’s name is Kirk.

Our depot is in Lewes
The East Sussex county town
Most people call it Loos or
Spell it Lewis, sure to cause a frown

We’ve ten mechanics in the workshop
Who do their level best
To get the trucks repaired in time
And get them through the Ministry test

Les and Russ book out the parts
For customers, account and cash
The parts can be quite costly
If a vehicle’s been in a smash

Bruce, the service receptionist
He books in all the work
Checks the jobcards for me
And ticks off any lads that shirk.

Alan is our general manager
Who oversees all things
I do all the admin and
Answer the phone when it rings

Erik, our driver & odd job man
Sometimes takes me to the Bank
If your truck’s been steam cleaned
He is the man to thank

Mick is our parts driver
Covering Sussex in his van
If you want your parts delivered
Then our Mick is just the man

Big Paul C is our salesman
Who works out the best deals
For all customers old and new
Who are wanting a ‘new set of wheels’

Sarah comes in weekly
To set up schedules and contracts
She’s the person to talk to
About chasing up new contacts

We mostly are a happy bunch
Working hard to earn our crust
Now you know a bit about us, I
Hope, in Scania, you’ll put your trust.

Well what can I say? Thank you so much.
I added another verse to the My Workplace poem and emailed it to my Regional Aftersales Director (Kirk). He called into us today, his own office is at Purfleet, and said that he hoped I wasn't writing my poems in company time! Typical. He did go on to say that it would be appearing in the company magazine, which is national. It would have been nice if he'd asked! I made a joke about copyright and he just grinned. Maybe I'll get a bonus. Haha

Bliddy cheek Daisy - he should be paying you a fee for the use of your poem.
