The Alpha Dog

We follow the Alpha Dog.
We follow the Leader in rain and in fog
We follow the Alpha Dog.
We hunt, we play and we lick his face
We lie down and sleep when he chooses a place.
The Alpha Dog knows when to run
When to hide from the noonday sun
He picks a height where he can see
In the distance game for he and we.
We follow the Alpha Dog

We run them down, we work as a team,
Baiting and biting the edible dream,
Till they fall like a tide
Their eyes stopped wide
We set our teeth and our fangs on their throats
And the blood runs hot on their furry coats,
The Alpha has led us once more to succeed
Dogs, bitches, puppies- they all will feed.
We follow the Alpha Dog.

We howl at the Moon, the creature of light
And sometimes at dusk or at dawn we will fight,
To establish the order we all must obey
But never will question the Alpha Dog’s way.
We wait, ever faithful his orders to hear
But there will come a time that the Alpha will fear
And the Alpha is tired, too old and too still
And the young dog with ambition will see to the kill.
Then We will follow the Alpha Dog’s will.
