I walked into the florist shop
A psychedelic paradise of blooms
An aphrodisiac to my senses
That pervaded all the rooms
A vast array of beauty
On display for all to see
Nature in all its glory
Displayed for both you and me.

Yet, my heart was saddened
As I stood in awe amidst this display
Realising that these cut flowers
Would very soon all wither away
My Valentine no flowers
Will I buy for you today
Instead I send this poem
Which encapsulates my dismay
