Thanks twin, drives me nuts when I am unable to chat. As I said before, OH is not a talker at all. This problem on line seems to travel, my friend in America had the same problem last week. When I finally got connection, his first words were, sorry Penny, been unable to get on line. So, its not just me messing up as OH always says. Had good weather today. Hope it continues for a bit longer. Take care all. cheers Penny

Nice to see you back penny.

Janet, they are so young to be playing instruments especially your Charlie on the guitar aged 6.
It is good when schools encourage them this way. I reckon we ought to get our young musicians together in a band!

Good evening, all. We got home around 10pm last night after more than 15 hours of train travel. That's more than enough for me!!

The holiday weather didn't improve - still cool and threatening rain when we left. I spent the last day in bed, trying to get over this cold and get my temperature down so I was fit to haul luggage and my brain wasn't too addled. Everyone else went off for a spectacular ride over the Afsluiting Dam followed by a steam train trip and a boat ride. So sorry to have missed it  Anyhow, we made it back in one piece although I've still got the bug and OH is now showing symptoms. Altogether, not the best of holidays. Such a pity as we'd looked forward to it for months....

On to more cheering things..LK will be coming home in the morning. I do miss her furry little presence around the place. And, on the subject of felines, what good news about Trixie. At last, she's decided that vets are OK people after all. But I guess a cat having an early bad experience with a vet is much like a child having a bad experience with a dentist and can leave a permanent mental scar and/or phobia. We have to get LK's annual vaccinations and check up done next week. She's generally OK about it, unless she's feeling purrverse and just enjoys being as non co-operative as she can.

Dita, I can't begin to imagine how lost and lonely you must be feeling. I can only send my love and sympathy. You're on a journey that so many of my friends have had to take during the past few years and they've all dealt with it differently, according to their natures. These are very early days so be kind to yourself and lean on your friends as well as your relatives. Following on from Maggieh 's suggestion, I guess you might find it difficult to go away with Dolly to consider but could you maybe invite an old friend to spend a few days during the summer? Perhaps someone who also knew OH well so you could talk over shared memories, good, bad, funny or sad? :bighugs:

Good news about your legs, Penny. So now you're chasing that nice gardening chap harder than ever?

PS. I'm well impressed with all these young musicians (speaking as someone who was always in trouble for dinging my triangle in the wrong places). It's great that they have the interest and enthusiasm to practise and aren't just sitting about thumbing their i-pads as we hear about so much. And who knows where their interest might lead them?

Hi everyone, Trixie is so improved Vannin, its hard to imagine after all the upset through the years, I'm so pleased for you. Thanks for your suggestions Maggieh, if only life was that simple. I could go stay with my son & family + Taz, but I also have Dolly and 3 Cockatiels which are 25yrs old each, My son and family have extremely busy lives and it wouldn't be fair to plonk myself on them and expect them to give me attention, they only seem to meet up for their evening meals anyway. Andere I thank you for those comments 100% right, living out here in this isolated little village means there is a community and we do get to know each other well and here conversations about our lives together hold more than even family can be aware of. As my confidence grows I may want to move on but not now.

Good afternoon from a hot Kent.Too hot outside for me.I have been out shopping with Janet and her hubby. We treated ourselves in Primark today. Then a bit of shopping in Sainsburys.

Had a lovely time at the fair with Logan on Saturday,he went in a running race with 5/6 year olds and got a medal for coming second. Then another race jumping along and he came third. So got another medal which he was happy with.

I had a lazy day yesterday making up for all the walking on Saturday, but it was lovely.

Your granddaughter maybe in Sydney now Penny, hope she has a good safe time out there. She had a good send off with 2 get togethers.Glad you enjoyed it.

I am going to open air drawing tomorrow afternoon, someone is giving me a lift there and back.
Hope you all have this nice weather that we have in Kent.

Left England last night and landed this evening via a journey and landing in Singapore. Hope everyone is O>K> an prepared to keep the forum going. keep waiting to see who is going to be our P>M>
Hope you have a good day drawing tomorrow. Very good weather forecast. due enjoy your day. cheers Penny

Whew! Too hot for me. 25C and forecast to rise to 30C before the day's over. My cleaner couldn't come this morning and the agency couldn't find a replacement so I've just done the kitchen and bathroom myself because they really were in a grotty state. Now I'm banjaxed! The rest of it can wait - a little dust won't harm us.

Not a good week. My cold has more or less gone but I'm still coughing and my hay fever has made a comeback. Great. Just buy shares in Kleenex, everyone. I must be doing great things for their profits.

Yesterday afternoon, we went to the farm shop for fruit and veg, came out with a great bag full. Then set off to B&Q and the bliddy car broke down halfway there. A message came up while we sat in a traffic lights queue, "transmission overheating, please stop safely" and the wretched thing just shut down and couldn't be restarted. :tantrum2:. Someone helped push it on to the verge and we called the breakdown service then waited an hour in blazing sunshine .... I then had to accompany the tow truck because OH and his dodgy knees couldn't climb into the truck's cab. OH went home on the bus while I and my bag of produce went to garage with the sick auto. Left it there overnght. Tow tuck had gone so a long walk in hot sunshine to the bus stop then a bus part way home...

Anyhow, OH has now gone to the garage and arrange, I think, for onward transit to an automatic transmission specialist in Newark. Whatever the car's problems, I'm just grateful it didn't throw its wobbly on the M1 or the A1M!

Maggieh, I hope you're not getting overheated at your outdoor drawing class and that you've found a shady tree to sit under?

Keep cool, folks and not too much exertion ... zzzzzzz

Re Penny's post, above - I heard while I was getting the lunch that Johnson is to be our new leader. I know there wasn't a lot to choose between but I can't believe that party voters actually opted for that lying, arrogant, self-centred bag of wind. I think I might leave the country for good unless something can happen to rid us of him pdq - a truly humiliating vote of no confidence, or a revolution perhaps. There's something about his overdone, bombastic style that reminds me of Idi Amin in his early days. I'm not suggesting that Johnson has any plans to seize assets and forcibly deport thousands of people, or to kill gays but I do think he'll be as detrimental to this country as Amin was to Uganda, albeit in different ways.

I lived in greater London during his mayoralty (which he only won by pursuing a campaign of lies against Livingstone) and saw the mess he made of that city and the millions of ££ he wasted on his vanity projects. Presumably, now he's going to be PM , we'll see bike lanes up the side of every motorway and a floating island airport in the Wash?

The man's a psychopath and dangerous in so many ways. I foresee nothing good from this result. Sorry, Penny, but you did ask ...

PS. Just for the record, I voted Leave and cannot, currently, support any of the political parties on offer and I'm certainly not an embittered lefty!
