Hi, this is David, Penny's son. I am very sorry to share the news that Mum passed away in hospital yesterday (30/12) at the grand age of 97.

She had a fall at home before Xmas and went to hospital for some stitches to her head but then was kept in to monitor her bloods. She had a heart condition and kidney failings for a number of years now. Sadly her health declined whilst in hospital and she passed away peacefully in her sleep. All her family have been with her and she was still being 'cheeky' right to end!

We lost my father 2 years ago and Mum remained living alone, with limited mobility, in the family home of over 50 years here near Milton Keynes in England. She loved her 'internet friends' and her connection with the outside world - when we met or video called several times a week it would be the first thing she would tell me about - the weather in Ohio, the health of someone's wife in New Zealand, if it was too wet to walk a dog somewhere else in the world!

The internet can be a harsh place but she was so lucky to have found forums that have so many kind hearted people looking out for each other and to pass the time of day with - I really can't thank you enough for the support it has been to her over the years.

Take care of yourselves and raise a glass of something to 'Penny' with me.

Not sure if this is how you link to a couple of shared pics..

Sorry to read this David. A lovely lady has passed. Sadly it's not a question of "if" but of "When" for all of us.

I was wondering the same thing, would love to keep this forum going for Rowan and now Penny, we still might hear from ciderman and twin.
Glad you are doing puzzles, hope they are just 500 piece so not to hard for you, I have started a 1000- piece one full of kittens, not easy but will carry on with it,
It is just cold here and a bit wet, frost in the morning on the car,

Here is a pic of the last puzzle I did, it was HARD, every piece was a odd shape, and the brown part on the bottom I nearly gave up on.

Thats why I put my hard puzzle away I could'nt get the flooring done,it was grey with squiddles and loads of leaves.I will try another day when I have more patience.
Your puzzle that you have done is lovely, but I couldn't do odd shape pieces. :roflmao:

We will carry on posting in memory of Rowan and Penny, I will pop in every couple of days.

I find jigsaws relaxing, I sometimes have Alexa playing music as well.
It is cold here, went up town which today should have been market day, and only a couple of food stalls there. Am doing my volunteers 'job' in the morning at the Information and Heritage center, its only 2 hours and there is heating there, but am out in the evening, my country music club. will make sure I have plenty of de-icer,
My son is coming Sunday for a few days, he lives in Devon so only see him about twice a year.

Good afternoon Widget. It is rather cold today.Hope you had a nice evening out lastnight.Enjoy seeing your son this weekend have a big hug from him.

I am lucky that my grown up son and daughter don't live away not that I see them every week.I am having my youngest grandson here early evening while his mum sees her friends for a birthday meal.My son is away for a week with the eldest grandson.I have made a lot of room for Logan to play a game where he will be moving his arms and legs out.I watched a game he was playing through a mobile phone at xmas.He wears a helmet sort of thing and its got like glasses inside the helmet.I best ask him the name of the gadjet, :roflmao:

I went to the local shop this morning and it was like a ghost town no one else out side .All indoors with heating on.

Have a good weekend and I will pop by next week.

Son is on his way, love seeing him, he only comes about twice a year, but its hard work when he is here, going out to lunch today with daughter and her husband, so no cooking today, think not much jigsaw will be done the next couple of days, keep warm and safe.

Son just gone home, so nice to see him, but after you have lived on your own for some time, it is hard work when someone else is there, so might get on with some jigsaw later after I strip the bed and done the washing,

Good morning Widget. It is a wet morning here for a change, change from a white frost.

You had a bit of company for a few days then.Yes it is harder when your used to being on your own.You get set in your own rountine of meals etc.I have been on my own for a few years now.

I must get on with my jigsaw this afternoon ,I have sorted the edging out. :roflmao: I have a shopping delivery coming between 11.50/12.50.

Well that's another one done of my luekemia treatment . Didn't take so long this time. I took the St Johns Health Shuttle to Wellington this time and I was the only one on board apart from the driver. She had to occupy herself while I spent 2 hours in hospital so 2 hours driving there, two hours driving back and two hours waiting for me. Six hours and all free! Think I might make a donation.
