Hi Penny, Andere and all, I am so late today it has been one of those days where everything gets in a muddle, funny its always when you dont expect it and also when you dont want it........anyway we've been trying to sort things out now the bars have gone, my windows have the sun on them again also lots of dirt which I have been attempting to scrub off, needed more than a bit of spit and polish. Got to do a bit of a garden center shop for some new heathers etc for my little rockery in the front garden, their scaffold poles were on it. Bet L Katt & Trixie enjoyed the sun today, it was a lovely doggie walk for us too, went well with those hugs from you Penny. Pleased you enjoyed your bit of peace and quiet Andere means you'll have plenty energy to help celebrate his birthday at the weekend, I agree with what you said about your friend in a tizzy after losing her hubby, having the emotional turmoil is bad enough without cold shoulders from the official process. Penny why dont you have a cat? is it because of an allergic reaction or something. Keep smiling Penny :) and take care all. XX

Morning Dita and all, Lovely and sunny. Been trying to get on the internet for exactly 24 mins. Dita, I would adore another cat but when the last one died I was so upset hubby vowed I would never have another. Getting used to it was very difficult because we have never been without a cat and dog together since we were married all those years ago. Hope doggie enjoy her walkies today, have sent big hugs so that she can enjoy the sunshine. I am sure kisses will be laughed off for pussies today, such a nice day for being out. Off for weekly shop later on and hopefully lunch with son. Hope you are nearly clear now Dita. Is Richmond still a lovely place Andere. I used to go there quite a lot as I lived nearby in Raynes Park for several years. Have a good day all and take care. cheers Penny

Hope you have a lovely day today Vannin :grouphug:

Hi Penny and all, the morning was sunny but it has clouded over now, luckily sun was still with us during doggie walk, sure your hugs had something to do with it Penny. I understand how you feel about your so much loved cat, I was much the same for 2yrs after Sophie died so young, I was very reluctant to get another dog because she was my best friend in so many ways but I have grown to love little Dolly in a different way which is hard to explain because she will never take Sophies place. Hope you managed to catch up with your son during your weekly shop and find a few bargains. We are getting nearly back to normal outside and all looking good, we do think the place is feeling warmer but it is hard to calculate because the weather temp has been so up and down. Hope you having a nice birthday Viv, bet plenty cuddles from Trixie. also purrs to L Katt. Keep chin up Penny :) and take care all. Think my son was stationed at an army barracks in Richmond Yorks, but Andere you may have meant another Richmond.

Morning Dita and all, a bit earlier today, Not very bright, hope hugs help with walkies today and kisses for pussies to keep warm. Nearly to the end of your housing problem Dita, must be a great relief. Nothing planned except the usual kitchen duties. Young gardener came for an hour yesterday evening, keeping the lawns tidy, couldn't wait to pick up his loaf as usual. Such a good worker, pity there aren't more like him around. Doing liver and onions today, catch you all later I hope. Take care and have a good day all. cheers Penny

Yesterday was the best birthday for a few years, with friends. Perhaps because the interlude with Charlie was so recent. I met up with five ladies and two of their husbands (eight of us!) who were originally brought together five years ago, through having Saga 'meets' in South Bucks - favouring Marlow as having the widest choice of suitable venues for lunches, and now even more venues than then.

When joining Saga in 2006, I spent more than two years going to central London meets on Saturdays, but it became easier to start a group nearer home, and I had used up all my central London nostalgia for the days when I lived there in the sixties. Our Marlow group gets together, on average, every six weeks, and it is easy to find very low-priced lunching.
Yesterday I arrived early and sat on a decking area of seating in the sunshine. Bliss! When we took our leave, I wobbled home in a happy state. (Good thing I don't drive!) It is always strange that two glasses of wine at lunchtime equal the effect of four in the evening...........not that I can remember when I last had four in an evening! :downhatch:

In the evening there was an extra long choir practice because Easter, busiest time of the year, is upon us. I behaved impeccably as I also will do when we sing at a wedding tomorrow!

Hi, everyone. Friday at last and it looks like being a fairly decent weekend, weatherwise. I'm so glad you enjoyed your birthday, Viv and had a good lunch with your friends - so nice to be a lady-who-lunches from time to time, isn't it? I've been busy organising our daughter's birthday present (her birthday is on Monday, same as OH;30 years between them). She wanted a particular kind of coffee grinder which I've now ordered and hope they'll deliver on time! Then I had to go and stand around in the cold and hold the screwdrivers and other bits and pieces while OH took the car's passenger door to pieces in order to replace the mirror on that side which he managed to demolish entirely yesterday when it clipped a badly parked van in a narrow street. Now, if I'd done that, I'd never hear the end of it; because it was him, naturally, that was a daft place to stick a box-van  Still, no major damage done and it's all fixed now.
The friend I was visiting lives in Richmond, Surrey, Dita. I've never been to the one in Yorkshire although I have it on my list of places to go one day because I'm told it's really lovely there, too. And yes, Penny, the one in Surrey is looking especially beautiful at present with all the leaves still young and green and the blossom trees flowering everywhere. Like just about everywhere, it's looking a little shabbier than it used to and the traffic is still a nightmare but it is still very attractive. In the 1980s, I lived for nearly 2 years by the river at Hampton Wick which is part of Richmond borough and I did love being there....
Lucy K sends hugs and purrs to fellow cats and Dolly Dog and to any people who need them. She's had an exhausting day sleeping on the outside windowsill so now she's recovering by sleeping on my bed! Yes, I will grieve and break my heart when LK goes to the Rainbow Bridge, as I have for all my previous cats but that pain would never deter me from having another cat because the pleasure ultimately outweighs the pain - always.

Lovely to hear that some of the SZ folk still have a get together Viv, I used to know a few on Wordgames although never met up I am still in touch with a couple of them. :downhatch: That made me giggle, good on ya.

Thought it was not the Richmond I know because it would have been a bit of a drive
Worth a visit Andere. Have a good birthday celebration weekend :grouphug:

Hi all, Hope you have a super day on Sunday Dita. Lovely isn't it when the family call. Had a surprise last night. Just about to get tea ready when DIL arrived with grandson and grandaughter. They had been to the cinema and wanted to pop in before they went on holiday is weekend. Grandaughter took off with the last of my little cake batch so have been baking again this morning. I was shattered by the time they went off, the children follow me about and keep asking me to repeat stores of of my younger days in Singapore etc. Grandaughter loves cooking so is taking all my own recipes. Inc. the one from yesterday. Must say, she is getting very good, did a large Xmas cake for the Young Farmers group and came first. She loves to go through all my photo albums and talking about all my old boy friends. Grandson giving me lessons on the computer. No wonder I am shattered today. Wretched electric supply was playing up this morning. Finally got finished about 2.30 so have been having a sit. OH is in his usual. Do have a good weekend all and hopefully the weather will improve. cheers Penny
