Photos that bring back memories.

There are 2 things about this picture that I remember. First is the red dress I'm wearing. Tony bought it for my birthday without even telling me... just went in a shop and chose it. We used to go clubbing a lot in those days and I wore that dress to death.

I'm pictured with my friend Jean at a Gene Pitney concert circa 1975/ish and my second memory is after the show. We waited at the stage door to see Gene Pitney leave. He slowly drove past us to give himself time to wave etc... Well, the drivers window was down so Jean dived in, flung herself accross the driver and gave Gene Pitney a massive kiss on the lips. He didn't seem to object at all ... She was in a state of bliss all the way home. I nearly peed myself laughing. It was a brilliant night... He was a great performer. He and Roy Orbison were my 2 favourites.

Do you have any photos that bring back memories?

Great photo Carol of two glamorous ladies. Were they long or short dresses?

Here is one of me taken one Sunday afternoon when I was going out for a bike ride to visit my mate.
I was 18 here and the year is 1948. Where has that 63 years gone?????????????
For saying that I lived in the heart of Peckham in London it makes one wonder where all the traffic had vanished to. Mind you it was NOTHING then compared to today.

I got married in 1949 and went back to the Midlands where I had been evacuated to during WW2 until going back to London in 1947.
I had met my fiancee there when I was 15 just as the war finished and he was a local lad on leave from the R.A.F.

We didn't have the gear they have today Corrie AND it was Sunday which was why the road was clear at the back of me. A day of rest it was then.
Besides my father would have done his nut if I had gone out looking like a tramp.

They were long dresses we were wearing. I had about 4 but that one was my favourite... Your pic's nice Maisie. I'm wondering how far you cycled looking as immaculate as that?

Two lovely photos

I love the colour of your dress Carol. Gosh your hubby was soo clever to get a dress for you that suited and fitted.
Maisie. What a lovely sharp photo. My older sisters use to have their hair in that style.

This photo I like because it shows me looking so very proud at being a grandmother at such a young age.
I was 42 when this was taken of me and our little grandchildren, our eldest daughters two lovely little girls.
Her husband soon after this photo was taken walked out on her leaving her to bring up the girls on her own.
Times were hard, but we did a lot of helping out and babysat every Saturday evening
for 10 years so that she could work in a pub to make ends meet.

They are now in their thirties and have young ones of their own.

I used to cycling round London Carol and Tower Bridge was one of my favourite rides. I used to love watching it go up if a ship came though and its lovely lit up at night.
I was going to my friends house when that photo was taken and she lived about 15 minutes ride away from where I lived or a bus ride if I had not got my bike. It was Sunday and we were going for a walk in the park where she lived.

Mo that is a beautiful photo of you and the grandchildren. Lovely memento.

You all look very swish! I love these old photos of us. I had an idyllic childhood travelling the world with my mom and dad. Dad was in the RN and a specialist in anti-submarine & minesweeping and he kept applying for overseas posts. So Bermuda, New York, Singapore, and then NZ.

Not sure what I am doing here because I went to edit my last post but seemed to have made a cock up of it. :huffin: :huffin: :huffin:

Anyway Michael your photos must bring back super memories for you. It sounds as though you had a great life travelling the world. Lovely.
