Jools Oliver is to star in a new TV series.

It’s called “How to clean up the kitchen in under four hours after a Jamie thirty minute meal.

It is rumoured that she never, not even once, says “Dettol surface cleaner and a Spontex sponge are ‘best friends’”

Not to mention Gordon Ramsey's wife's efforts! I like food, and I like cooking but is it only me who is fed up with Masterchef, Jamie, Gordon, Nigella etc etc ? I spend half my time switching channels!

No messing!!! You have to be joking, the reason he cooks so often in his garden is Jools won't let him mess up the kitchen again.

........when I said "no messing" I meant "no messing around", like constantly back slapping your hand, preening into camera etc etc.

I know two men who are wonderful cooks, they plan well ahead and wash up as they go along.

I wish that I fancied one of them. Or both.

My son-in-law is very good cook. At my youngest daughter's engagement party a fortnight ago he organised the catering for about 80 guests and while a lot of the food was purchased finger foods, lasagnes and barbecued chicken, he also made a couple of very large cheesecakes, profiteroles, savouries, 3 big bowls of salads and 2 huge omelets topped with ricotta cheese and salad vegetables. He was given a standing ovation when he was thanked during the speeches.
