Shower Question

Postby Monika » Tue Feb 01, 2011 1:04 pm

We moved house last November and now have a shower cubicle rather than an over the bath arrangement.

I like it, but, I don't know how to remove the cover over the drain hole. It's a hard plastic cover which hardly moves at all and won't turn or lift up, but I'm sure I shall need to remove it to give it a thorough clean and, of course, to remove trapped hair. Also, I'm sure there must be a easy way of getting it off - but at present it's like a Chinese puzzle to me.

I think you're right, George; mine will not lift even enough to see what's holding it down and I'm afraid that any force may cause it to break.

Nevertheless, thanks for trying to help, VM.

Have you tried pressing it down? Some of them work on a spring thingy and pop up after depressing so you can remove them.

Ours looks like that, and I think Dave just lifts it off. When we first married Dave said he would make cleaning the bathroom his job, and in our 42 years of marriage he has kept his word.

Thanks, June - will you ask him to say if it has a name on it, please.

I examined it earlier and found the name Daryl Showering engraved on the top of it.

I'm scared to force it as it seems very hard plastic, so daren't do any tugging but, if I knew for sure that it was supposed to lift off, I'd try a bit harder.

George - I actually did that yesterday evening and, left my number. Today, I received a phone-call from a really pleasant young Welshman who informed me that all their shower plug covers unscrew anticlockwise and - if I had any problems getting it off - ring him and he would order me a new one.

I've now removed it and given all a good clean - hooray
