No more soaps

I have watched Corrie and Eastenders for more years than I care to remember. Now, no more. The story lines are so ridiculous and outrageous that I have just had it, full stop. Anyone else still enjoy these two programmes. cheers Penny

I watch Corrie with half an eye, it's nice to watch something that doesn't need a lot of concentration after a hard days work

Haven't watched Eastenders for a couple of years it was too depressing

:hide: waiting for VM's contribution with trepidation :hide: :rolleye11:

I gave up while Ena Sharples was in the cast. I imagined her as Giles grandma type of character.

As far as soap is concerned I'm very faithful to Imperial Leather.

TV has been described as the opium of the masses and so much of it is.
Finding the worthwhile programmes is like searching for diamonds in a midden.

I enjoyed both until lately. Story lines are so beyond belief I could not stand them any more. Such a shame. cheers Penny :groaner:

Eastenders and Emmerdale.
It's according to who has written the script. Some never fail to write a good storyline others are rubbish.
I always know when Simon Ashdown...(Paddy Ashdown's son) has written the script for Eastenders because it's always a good storyline.
Mind you it must be difficult keeping the viewers interested after being on T.V five nights a week and for such a long time.

I've watched Coronation Street for over 40 years.
Since the invention of the video machine I don't think I've missed an episode even when I go on hols.

I guess that answers your question Penny. :sunglasses:

I don't think I would watch the soaps if I lived alone, but Trev really enjoys Emmerdale, Neighbours, Doctors, Waterloo Rd - that type of thing. When I am sitting knitting I tend to take in what is going on, but wouldn't miss them if I didn't see them.

He enjoys them - that's good enough for me - if he is happy I am happy.

I watch Corrie now and again and had stopped watching Eastenders when they did the baby swapping storyline. Now heard that David Essex is joining Eastenders, so may take a look in then!

I don't watch any of them.

Dire outlandish plots, misery and angst.

Just my opinion, I do realise that a lot of people enjoy them.
