I watched it a couple of times. (Mainly'cos I didn't believe it the first time). I didn't enjoy it, found it annoying and the presenter/narrator a real turn off big time.

I watch it on occasion, Tiddles, and usually enjoy it. It has a strange appeal in that some of the participants are unbelievably dreadful .... so fascinate me.

Some of the menus are incredibly ambitious with everyone trying to outdo the other.

So far though, no-one has tried to emulate Heston Blumenthal - watch this space?

I too enjoy it Monika for the same reasons.

Personally, I would not give any of the contestants I have seen so far house-room.

And as for the guests rummaging through the host's house whilst dinner is being prepared.......

I originally watched a couple of them to get some ideas on meals.

As a firm believer in the bum on the seat being as important as the food on the plate I just couldn't see why come Tuesday or Wednesday someone hadn't said "sod that for a game of soldiers" and just quit. God what some folk will do for a few quid.

If you have three to four hours to spare you could always try one Of Jamie's 30 minute meals. Providing, of course, you have some ingredients that are "best friends".

I watch this. At first it used to be mostly about the food. Now it seems the weirdos and obnoxious folk are taking over.

I think the going through the drawers etc. is all set up as they seem to find all sorts of strange stuff.

Some of Dave Lamb's comments are hilarious!

The celebrity ones are enjoyable as well, especially when they borrow someone else's (usually) very posh house.

I enjoyed it in the earlier days before the rooting around in drawers etc and them wanting weirdo's on the show. Now and again a good recipe comes up which I'll look up and try.....Teryaki Salmon being one of them which I've used again and again. Give me Jamie Oliver shows any day of the week.

I don't watch it as often as I did, but five in our family decided
to do our own Come Dine With Me each month.

We have been doing meals for each other for a long time
but this time we decided to vote on the winner

Once we have eaten the meal, we secretly mark down our scores and
will reveal all when the last meal has been eaten.

Dorrie and I have both done our dining and are waiting for the others to do theirs.
Like the programme, we must make most things ourselves.

What meal would you do if you had four people to dine with you?

This was my menu.
I kept to a traditional English meal.

STARTER
Large salmon fish cake on a bed of green salad
and
Home made Tartare sauce,
French bread and butter

Main meal

Steak Mushroom and onion pie
served with
creamed potatoes
pointed cabbage
petite pois peas
and a rich gravy

Desert

Raspberry Pavlova
with Raspberry coulli
and home made vanilla ice cream.

followed by
After dinner mints
tea or coffee.

Wine also served at the table.

I've no idea what marks i'm going to get but it's all good fun.

I saw this 'blurb' last night.... "Chicken curry in ten minutes". I didn't believe it but having watched the video I'm persuaded; providing you just happen to have a jar of garam masala or curry paste to hand. Where the programme fails is by not allowing time for cooking rice which is around 20 minutes therefore I would advocate getting the rice of the go first before preparing the curry.....SEE HERE

The only way to cook rice is with milk and sugar and a skin on top.
