The parents of Charlie Gard are being selfish trying to keep this poor little fellow alive. They say he is not in pain, but he has no quality of life and never will improve,he cannot see or hear just has to lay there being kept alive artificially

I tend to agree, but wouldn't want to walk a mile in their shoes, as the saying goes.

When my wife decided to go she was able to make her own decision to stop taking all nourishment. Had she not been able to I don't think it's a decidion I'd have been able to take foe her, but on the other hand I could not have ordered her force fed either.

The old adage for doctors springs to mind

"Thou Shalt Not Kill
But Need Not Strive
Officiously
To Keep Alive."

A little while ago, I would have agreed with Lavonne because I thought all the new treatment would do was prolong the poor kid's existence as a human vegetable on life support. However, after hearing Charlie's mother interviewed on radio, I changed my mind. Although this experimental treatment doesn't work at all for some patients, for others it has achieved significant improvements. Apparently, there is one child who was previously in the same condition as Charlie but made such significant strides after treatment that she's now able to ride a bike. After hearing that, I feel the treatment and Charlie deserve a chance.

What price LIFE ?If Charlie survives what will his quality of life be like, one little boy in America ,treated by this Dr ,shown on tele today, still had a breathing tube attatched and help to sit up,is thus really what is wanted for Charlie. So many questions need to be answered, who is going to care for him, will he be allowed home

This position of the parents was extremely sad and to even give an opinion of 'right-wrong' is not possible until one has walked in their shoes and been forced to make that decision-------just heart breaking.
