Less powerful motor means less suction, so it will take longer and more electricity to do the same area...another idea in action from a bunch of overpaid Muppets that think they're saving the planet.

What on earth do they hope to gain by limiting the wattage of vacuum cleaners?

I wonder if Dysons come under that category?
I love the one I've got and would certainly rush out to buy another if I knew it was going to be withdrawn.

Which have done tests and report that lower wattage does not mean a reduction in their cleaning capacity. Some do, but many don't and can even do a better job.

If you are thinking of buying a new vacuum cleaner, the best thing would be to visit your local library and read Which's latest reports and be advised by that.

I bought a Vax U87 about 2 years ago to replace a clapped out Dyson. The Vax has only a 820W motor but it is awesome!. I think the Dyson it replaced was 1.2kW but there's no comparison. This Vax is so good, my main worry is that it'll suck all the pile out of the carpets.

We bought a Shark Navigator a couple of years ago when we finally got rid of our Dyson. It can be up to 1200watts but that's when you've got the carpet beater function going. It's a huge improvement!
