Of course not cheating Dita, that is what google is all about. I agree, I thought pup, but seems Whelp is the actual word we are looking for. In the meantime, will say, Well done Dita and Laurie. correct·

As a country boy born bred bred I must insist on "kit" for a young otter! Seals hve pups.

Perhaps it's a regional thing.

I was born and bred in the country too Laurie and still do live in the sticks, I must admit to a Google about it and that list I wrote was part of the Google. Did think Ferret babies were Kits but hey! Who cares they are all lovely x :grouphug: did think Seals had Pups too :roflmao: :bighugs:

I always thought they were called kits, or kittens; I don't think they are called whelps - they are only whelps as are any carnivorous young mammals, the title is not exclusive to otters.
