Anyone tried it

Postby Penny » Mon Oct 23, 2017 1:16 pm

Last weekend clearing a shelf in fridge pulled out a jar of the following. Forgotten I had it. Since then I have eaten it with lunch four time this week and about to again today. Simply wonderful and lifts your appetite.
Geeta.s Premium Mango Chutney. I think this is the large size 1.5kg. thought it might interest a few. Cheers Penny

Too spicy for me Penny.
I am not a big eater at all now and I never could stomach anything spicy.

My standard pickle, use it mot days. Had some today with a pork pie. Cheese, any cold meats, processed meats, sausages, rice dished (not pudding!), curries and so on.

I love chutney. I'll look out for this one.

Has anyone tried fresh mangoes ?
I did recently and was disappointed !
Very difficult to prepare and a bland woody taste.

I like chutneys. I also like mangos. Anybody ever tried Feijoa? or Loquats?

I think Young Goat must have been unlucky with that mango. In my experience, they're anything but bland and the flavour overwhelms anything else on the plate. For which reason, I never put them in fruit salads. I agree they're difficult to prepare! If they're properly ripe, you end up with juice dripping off your elbows while you wrestle with that awkward shaped stone :tantrum2:

I can't stand mango chutney, though. Like almost all chutney, it's generally too sweet for my taste. I'm a spicy, sour pickle person!

I agree with Andere - fresh mangoes are absolutely delicious \and real treat.

Like so many fruits their flavour can be enhanced with a pinch of cinnamon.
