"Own brand" and M&S

I saw Jacobs ream Crackers in my local M&S last week.

Other than specialist stuff, I don't ever recall M&S selling anything but their own brand everyday groceries before.

Is this a new departure to turn their fortunes around?

Ten or 12 years ago they started selling multiple brands.

Perhaps it's a regional thing.

I've just never come across it before.

While their products are mad by the same manufacturer, in the past I've only seen their own branding on them.

I first noticed other brands in M&S about 5 years ago but only in the food hall and not many of them. I've never spotted Jockey underpants or Pringles sweaters among the clothing.
I'm really going off M&S anyway. Last week, I went in there for three items. Two were out of stock, the third, a bra, had to be returned because although it was labelled 40C, it would have fitted Dolly Parton with room to spare! And as for the colours of their coats, sweaters and dresses this autumn ... all I can say is Ugh!

Beggars can't be choosers. It's M&S or Morrison's!
