Why cant we seem to cope with bad weather in this Country ?Other countries manage.I was due to go shopping this morning by community transport.I was all ready to go but the mini bus never came, when I rang to find out why I was told the trip was cancelled due to the weather,My trip isnt far away ,the main roads are clear and traffic was going along my road was travelling OK. I am booked to go for a blood test tomorrow [Friday ],if my trip is cancelled I dont know what Ill do ,as its important to have it done, also I need to stock up on milk & bread ,among other things

I wouldn't attempt to go out today here. The paths and roads are very icy.Ok if you don't mind the thought of slipping and sliding and maybe landing on the path.

I think the main problems are the side roads they can keep the main roads fairly clear here but delivery vans and taxis can't get through once they turn off the main roads and just get stuck. It must be a nightmare for them.
The snow we had a few weeks ago caused chaos. Nothing like as heavy as this latest fall but it went hard and iced over and nothing could get down the roads either side of us for four days. I have no idea how they're doing this time.

I wasnt able to get my usual free minibus transport last friday, all trips were cancelled ' for your own safety ', so I had to get a cab both ways ,didnt fancy trying to go by bus, cost me £6 but had to be done & worth it

You are fortunate your cab fare was relatively inexpensive. In London, (where I worked as a taxi driver) that amount would only get you just over a mile and a half.

They double the fares here when it snows,so you were lucky was cheap.
