Not that I know of.. Don't you get a letter to say they've paid it in?

I never got a letter yet, but have on-line banking and saw it there,

Just found out you have to be on some kind of benefit.

Doesn't it depend on exactly how cold it has been and for how long in the precise area where you live?

Yes,

2. What you'll get

You’ll get £25 for each 7 day period of very cold weather between 1 November and 31 March.

After each period of very cold weather in your area, you should get a payment within 14 working days. It’s paid into the same bank or building society account as your benefit payments.

I've checked against my postcode and anyone eligible is going to get paid for 24 Feb to 2 March which surprises me as I didn't think it had stayed below zero C for all those days. However, nobody in our house is eligible so we'll just continue wearing the thermal drawers.

I think they now call the state pension a benefit,
(it isn't, it is something we paid in for all our working lives and is an entitlement.....but that's a different argument !)
If that is the case all pensioners should receive the cold weather payment.

Sadly, the list of eligible claimants doesn't include people on state retirement pension alone. You have to be in receipt of various kinds of "credit" and allowances to get it.
I agree, the sneaky way they changed a pension to a "benefit" is deplorable but utterly typical of two faced, scheming politicians.
