I can't imagine how you're coping laurie ... Didn't I read somewhere that you can't go out in the sunshine?

On top of the heat, I picked up a bad deep bronchial cough earlier this week which left me really giddy and weak.

I was within an ace of using my alarm to call for help, but a lot of sleep later it's getting better.

I'm due at the doctor this week so I'll get him to have a listen to my chest.

Do you live near the coast laurie?

It's always more bearable if there's a sea breeze.

yes, about 440 yards!

We've had intermittent E or NE breezes of the North Sea which has helped.

13 deg forecast for tomorrow so I may get up!

I couldn't stand the heat upstairs last night so opted to sleep on the fold up bed in the lounge. it was 8 deg less down there than upstairs!!
I slept till 7.30 this morning and the best thing was - it was cool (ish)

In my area of The Midlands it's been constantly around 30deg c

It's hotter inside than out - the thermometer in my PC room is reading 32c

The problem is we have no air conditioning or pools to cool off in.

Not as bad as 30 here, more low to mid twenties. I hope the promised mid teens arrive morrow.

When I think of two years in Arabia, lowest temperature 87, with nothing worse than a touch of prickly heat!

I think it is a case of what you are used to since our current daily temperatures in mid winter are in the mid to high teens and everyone is complaining about how cold it is ! In summer, our temperatures In the low 30s are very pleasant and only when they reach the high 30s are we uncomfortable. Last summer we had a high of just on 47C and that we REALLY complained about. :lala:

During the summer I usually get up early and open all doors and windows and turn the ceiling fans on before sunrise to let the cooler air flow through the house (front faces south and the back north) and then close the house up again when the sun rises - including the curtains, blinds and interior doors. Earlier in the year I invested in a portable reverse cycle air conditioner which can be moved from room to room for cooling in the summer and heating in the winter. It has been one of my best investments !
