Not much of a respite was it?

Sweltering again today.

Its ruddy awful Laurie.
Taking me all my time to get my breath even though I have the fan full on.

Same again today - not yet 6.30 am but fans full on and windows wide open.

I've got the bed to change and that will just about do me for the day.

Heaven knows how they're coping in Spain and Greece.

Is this the model you bought Monika?
I think I've left it to late to buy one this year now.. Surely it's going to get cooler soon.

Now you've had it a few weeks I'd love to know your verdict on it. I know you said it was heavy - Did you manage to move it to the bedroom.

Hi Carole - yes, that's the one, except mine cost £499.

It's not so much heavy as awkward to move, being quite tall.

I really like it and find the cool air it emits much, much better than the blast of air from a fan. It is more of a "gentle(but constant) breeze". There are 10 settings plus a night mode. It is an air purifier, which I probably benefit from as I have COPD.

As far as it being portable, that is its only drawback. It has no handle; you must NOT attempt to carry it by the top of the "loop" so must kind of manoeuvre it around the room by pushing against the filter cases at the bottom. So, I am slightly disappointed that I am unable to take it to the bedroom at night.

Having said that, the Vicks Germfree Pure Air Humidifier I use in the bedroom does a superb job in allowing me to get a good night's sleep and cools the air nicely, but I do think there should be some aid to moving the Dyson - possibly putting some wheels on the bottom and attaching a removable handle down the back.

BTW - You said you are depressed with the dreadful heat (and you're not on your own there) but a psychiatrist in today's paper says that, just like the winter SAD condition, there is a Summer SAD equivalent. Problem is that you can get some relief from the Winter thing by using a Lamp but there is nothing for the Summer thing.

Wow that's £160 price difference.. Is yours a more deluxe model than the one in my picture?

The one on the right is a different model from mine. Mine is the one on the left.

It has a remote control with various settings, a LED display and I suppose it must have a small computer inside. I think the cheaper model on the right doesn't purify the air and does far less. (don't know but think so)

Blackpool is one of the few places where the weather doesn't matter, there are plenty of non-weather dependent activities.

Enjoy, and if desperate, take a deckchair under a pier!
