Bought dozen eggs from local farm last week and just finished. Every one was a double yoked egg. Never come across so many together. Made me giggle, I said if all these and others were allowed to hatch, no wonder all shops are full of raw chickens. cheers Penny

Most double yolkers from commercial flocks are segregated and sent to confectioners, which I think is a pity.
I understand some Sainsbury stores sell packs of double yolkers, but I've never seen any.

I once had the polar opposite of that, Penny ................ I had an egg with no yolk whatsoever and could never figure out a reasonable cause for such a thing.

I once bought 6 eggs from a butcher's shop and 5 of them had double yolks. But no yolk? Now, that's weird!

I thought it extremely weird too, Andere. I wrote to the supplier but never received a reply and wondered if they hadn't believed me as I feel sure that it couldn't happen
but it did.
Trouble was I didn't cook it in its shell and simply cracked it for baking, more''s the pity!

Yes, when we kept hens we often had double yolk eggs.
Never had one since we stopped keeping our own.

Strange. No yolk at all? does this mean we now have a selection of female hens only, No males allowed. ????? cheers Penny
