How long can I keep cooked chicken breasts ?

I bought a pack of 3 chilled chicken breast fillets and froze them on the day of purchase. I intended to take out one at a time and cook them as needed but when I did that they were frozen solid together so I put them in the refrigerator to defrost, and I will have to cook them all at once I suppose.
My question is, how long will they keep once cooked and can I reheat them one at a time to make a meal ?

They'll be alright in the fridge for about four days and yes you can take them out one at a time and cook them but your diet would be a bit monotonous as you'd have to have consume them in four days.

The better idea would be to cook them all and then re-freeze the ones you aren't using - preferably on a tray where they won't stick together.

I cooked all three and carved them into slices (that was a palaver as I don't think I had ever carved a joint or a chicken ever before)

I found they were still a few traces of pink meat inside so I out them back into the oven for a short while, and that fixed that.

I then laid the slices flat on a large sheet of foil, covered it with another sheet of foil, folded the edges over and put them in the refrigerator.

I ate some cold last night, with no ill effects ,no real surprise there because they were still in date.
The cooking instructions categorically stated that the should not be reheated so that means it will be chicken sandwiches for lunch and cold chicken with mash and veg tonight and maybe the same again tomorrow !!

The chicken was part of a special offer from Asda that included a large pack of minced beef.
Now I have to work out how to deal with that because, like the chicken, I doubt if I will be able to divide that in its frozen state.
I think I'll probably make two or three individual portions of shepherds pie and freeze them for a later date.

For a quickie, just add mince to chopped onions and shape as beefburgers. Then you can cook one or two as required. cheers Penny

YG, before you take advantage of any further bargain meat offers, go get yourself a roll of medium size freezer bags and some Clippits or those wire twisty-grip things. Then you can divide up mince, stewing steak, etc before you freeze it. Just label the bag with contents and date and problem solved.
Incidentally, there is absolutely NO reason you shouldn't freeze your cooked chicken then thaw it out when you're ready and add it to a curry or a casserole or similar so long as it's brought to boiling point and simmered for a few minutes.
IMHO, supermarket and manufacturer cooking instructions have much to answer in terms of food wastage. :tantrum2:
