My Leaves Have Started to Turn.

My beech leaves have started to turn.

Even with the hot weather that's surely a bit early?

Not even had their annual trim yet (it's a hedge).

I first noticed leaves beginning to turn about 4 weeks ago - a row of roadside horse chestnut trees on the edge of an industrial estate. It seems desperately sad, especially as spring was so late.

It's happening around here too. It seems like only yesterday that I remarked to Brian what a lovely green new foliage is when passing some trees which were in the first flush of spring. Yes it is indeed very sad, Andere.

On the other hand, how successfully the grass is picking up its green. 'They' said 'Don't start water ing lawns, conserve that water. The grass will pick up.' They were right, although I realise another heatwave could upset the lot.

It was yesterday morning when I first looked out and the spreads of 'hay' lawn back and front, had regained their colour. We are chalk-based so never expected great things!
