Should I Take the Hint?

Postby laurie53 » Fri Sep 07, 2018 8:55 am

Grabbed a burger out of the freezer and stuck it in a roll for breakfast.

Turned out to be a rosti not a burger.

Should I take the hint and have a meat free day?

Will be hard as I have beef in a blackbean sauce and fragrant rice planned for lunch!

I'd never considered rosti as a breakfast dish until o went to Switzerland, where I got hooked on the things. Delicious! In your situation, I'd ditch the bread roll, fry up the rosti in butter (I know, I know!), top with a fried egg and enjoy. Then I'd go on to enjoy my planned lunch at lunch time.

Thanks. You've given me an idea and I'm going to make rostis for Sunday night dinner.

Well yes, rosti topped with a fried egg, some oak smoked bacon and beans make a good start to the day (you should refrain from pouring the bacon fat over the rosti!).

Tgey are also good with steak and kidney pie for lunch, or a slice of cheese melted over them for tea.

Unfortunately I was back in bed in bed with a cup of tea and the morning paper before I discovered my mistake!

You can make some yourself twin. Only parboiled grated potato and fry with a little butter. Top with a fried egg. cheers Penny
