No Longer Fit to Live On My Own

Going to open some baked beans to have with my pie and mash yesterday I found I had none.

When a bloke living o his own runs out of baked beans it's time for a compulsory care order!

Did you make some gravy instead laurie?

Pie & mash with thick grave - yum yum - who needs beans?

Quite right Carol. Try Pukka Steak and Kidney pies, lovey;. Had one yesterday and hubby was so pleased I have ordered 4 today. Down in price too. Only £1. at Sainsbury's. cheers Penny

Gravy, of course, thick enough for the spoon to stand up in (also how I like my coffee!), but a I need veg too.

Had my first Pukka pie last week, not impressed. Always used to have half a dozen of Morrisons in the freezer, but can't get there any more.

Local butcher makes his too salty (all varieties) so I tend to stick to Bell's now.

I've just got a Fray Bentos out of the cupboard for later in the week.

Some really nice pies available on line.

Is there no pop-in carers in your area Laurie. Would be good for you if only to see you don't run out of food etc.
Cheers Penny

When I saw the title of this thread I thought, "oh, no! Whatever can have happened? Poor Laurie...."

Gracious, and it turned out to be even worse than I had imagined. A man without baked beans? That's disastrous!

(Never understood the relationship myself but I've never yet met a man who professes to dislike 'em.)

Thanks for the concern, Penny, but not meant seriously.

I''ve got two freezers well stocked plus a fridge and the aforementioned store cupboard, and of course Amazon will deliver n baked beans free of p&p, within 24 hours.

I try to leave the carers for the poor souls who really need them.

Personally I loathe baked beans but hubby and son used to love them. I too thought you had had it Laurie when reading the title to your thread.
If you like Morrisons is there no way of having a fortnightly delivery, especially if you have other wares to buy?
Just a suggestion.

I do normally have a monthly delivery from Tesco (used to be Sainsgury until they stopped delivering to disabled people), but I didn't restock my beans, hence my post.

Talking of sons, I can remember our seven year old saying to his mother, to whom opening a tin was an anathema, "Why can't we ever have proper meals, like beans on toast?"!

I have never had much from Sainsburys but reading that about not delivering to disabled folk Laurie has put me off them completely now.

   Had a titter at your sons remark.

Have dealt with Sainsbury's for well over 40 years and had delivery for the past 10 months. I have never heard that before. Are you sure about your facts Laurie.. I will certainly question this next week. cheers Penny
