Afternoon all, what a dull day. Still very cold and sky very cloudy. Think rain is forecast. Hope everyone is keeping warm and as well as possible. Too miserable to pop out this p.m. and nothing special on T/V. Feel like a grumpy old hag. Not really, just browned off with weather. Anyone doing anything special today? Big hug for Dolly and same for little ones. Take care. cheers Penny

Ten degrees today so can't say it's really cool.

Slept late, 9.30, so breakfast wasn't until 11.00!

Ordered a new fridge freezer this afternoon, one of the big side by side American style ones. Arrives a week Monday.

Very hard to find one without water cooler in the door, which I don't use and don't want to pay for!

Good evening from a cold and cloudy, slightly wet Lincs.

Are we now running two Hi Dita threads? Or is this a replacement for the original very long one?

Had a nice, indolent sort of Saturday - got up late, ate lots of bacon butties, caught a bus into Lincoln with OH and went for a mooch. There was no particular reason to go but I was just so pleased to be feeling normal again that I had to go somewhere! On the way back, we stopped off at our local for a "swift 'arf " and gently shambled home. Since then, the day has been enlivened by phone calls from Daughter, seeking advice about this and that, all related to her move.

Laurie, I wish my fridge had a built-in water cooler! I've always got re-usable water bottles chilling in the fridge and, as space here is very restricted, the fridge is usually pretty full and I find myself cursing the amount of space occupied by the bottles. As the fridge is only 2 years old, it's not going to be changed for a while.

Have a nice, snuggly evening, all.

I can imagine the frustration if you drink a lot of water, which luckily I don't. Tend to drink milk more. You can buy fridge freezers with plumbed in water coolers, but they seem to be dis proportionally expensive.

Afternoon all, Not sure if this is a extra thread but whichever, it is still going. Just finished off last Lidl Xmas pudding Andere. Thought I would raise your taste bulbs. Not a very bright day, rather cold and getting darker by the hour. Just going out to warm up the engine on OH car. Do you use mustard or horseradish. OH has always preferred mustard but for some reason today he used my H/R and now says he prefers it. Strange how taste changes over the years. I do hope all are feeling better and on the way back to good health. Take care. Big hug for Dolly and same for little ones. cheers Penny

Grey, bleak and windy here but, so far, no rain since last night. The trees across the road are swaying quite alarmingly and the outside vents on the cooker extract fan are rattling and clattering in a slightly eerie fashion....

Horseradish? Yeeeeeuuuk!! My OH loves it but I can't bear the smell of it. One whiff makes me gag. He's always complaining that it's nearly impossible to buy "proper" horseradish sauce and that all the brands on sale in supermarkets or specialist delis are more mustard than horseradish. I've been forbidden to buy it for him as, because I dislike it, I apparently don't understand what is required. Fine! Suits me if the foul stuff never darkens my refrigerator again. I loathe hot English mustard, too but I love that whole grain Maille Moutarde à l'Ancienne and get through loads of it on cold cuts and sandwiches and in beer stews.

I've still got several Lidl Puds, Penny. While I had flu, I wasn't eating much so they're waiting for me now my appetite is coming back. If you want to drop round to help me with them, I might even make custard  .

I've spent a couple of hours cleaning and polishing the leather chairs so they feel all soft and buttery and smell wonderful. Now I'm wondering if it's too early in the day to permit myself a lovely cold ale?
Probably - but I might do it anyway!

Lucky you Andere. When I finally got OH to take me to Lidl, all the puds had gone so this is my last until next year. I might take up your offer and pop in. Just been for a run and there were a few spots of rain but only for a second. Wind very strong and very cold. Do hope you are on the up Dita. Take care all. cheers Penny

Haven't seen horseradish for years, real fresh horseradish I mean, not the dried or bottled stuff you can buy.

Most folk had it alongside the mint and sage, but even if we were somewhere where it wouldn't grow in the garden there was usually a verge somewhere near where it could be found, but not any more.

Grating fresh horseradish for your Sunday sirloin certainly used ti clear the old sinuses!
