Good morning! Noise of flipping fireworks, a long session last night even in the rain. There have been several nights of shorter sessions and it is not even November yet. Last night's sounded much closer than usual and, during fireworks, I am seething for hours! Trixie has been spending evenings and nights much more indoors, thank goodness.
Having got that off my chest, I hope everyone is well. 'My' Americans are gearing up for the big election week and most have voted already. I shall probably stay up on the night which is something I don't mind doing once in four years!!! It is when other people's noise or nature's bad storms keep me up, I join the moaners.
No point whinging about Covid - 'It is what it is' worldwide. Now the Greek and Turkish earthquakes, we are at least living in a country which has only the tiniest of tremors occasionally. About 20 years ago, my daughter was staying in Istanbul when Turkey had a quake epicentred there, bad memories.
Wishing everyone a tolerable weekend and stay safe. :grouphug:

Hello everyone from blustery black cloudy Lincs. Your mention of fireworks puts the fear of uno up me Vannin, Dolly is petrified of them and I am not far behind either. no wonder Trixie is staying in more at this time of year. We have the election, covid, and this awful earthquake, it certainly is all happening in this world of ours, makes one wonder what's gonna happen next. I have got Fred Astaire on in Band Wagon he was a brilliant dancer, but not exactly a he-man to look at. I know it dates me but most of the songs in the film I am very familiar with and can join in-------I sound ghastly :) I hope the fireworks are not too bad Vannin, Love and Hugs to you both from Dolly and me. xxx

To also join that list of 'whatever next' there is Brexit always lurking along with the many crises. There just is not room on the government agenda to reveal 'the worst' on top of the main Worst. But the relevant departments are probably beavering away, still in the makebelieve that it can't really have ended in a no deal.
Then there are the terrible murders in France followed by Paris leading yet more demonstrations against Macron for being honest enough to 'tell it like it is'. Good grief, if they had Boris then there might be cause for protest!
But rather than spread the gloom, I shall turn to a very early start of Christmas shopping mostly online, in the hope C will not be cancelled.
Dita, a sleepy Trixie and I send hugs (still gentle while you are fragile) and love to you and Dolly. xxxx

P.S. There were fireworks but they eased off around 7 - I guess Strictly was the reason. Bangs may resume later? Don't get me wrong, I am not anti Guy Fawkes night, but ONE night should be plenty, it may be the Friday or Saturday night nearest the 5th in organised displays. I just object to all the many nights that keep on going every year, but.....can't turn the clock back..
Anyway, White Rabbits for Sunday!

Evening all! Been a very windy day, it wore me out just hearing it and seeing the garden swaying. I shall be sure of an early night because I'll probably want to stay up tomorrow to watch America, assuming the election is broadcast. I know there will be the usual follow-up days of re-counts and carry-on among the states. Then it takes quite a while before the winner is declared President, then the inauguration is (I think) at the start of the following year. IF I try to follow things on TV, I expect to fall asleep in the armchair. Have just confirmed coverage starts 11 p.m. on ITV.
I expect Mr Penny is home now and I hope he is comfortable and settling down all right in his new bed.
Love and hugs to Dita and Dolly from Trixie and me,xxxx

Morning all, not good news I'm afraid. Took hubby some clean clothes yesterday and his lap=top. Was told by phone he will probably be there two or three weeks. Not allowed to enter building so son got him a special phone, now hubby rings me every day. Not good news about In-law. He has not responded at all and is being force-fed. DIL is seeing specialist on Thursday to see what his chances are. To top it all, my kitchen fridge has bust this morning. Not my year....

Weather bright and sunny at present but getting colder. Seems we are in for another cold spell'

Take care and keep warm. cheers Penny

Penny, I am sorry to hear about your news from hospital. I hope it will sound better tomorrow. Also bad news about your fridge but slightly better in this cold snap than during a heatwave. I hope you had a handy chap or chapess to advise, as it might be repairable rather than broken-down permanently. Make sure you take care of yourself, stay safe.

Hi Dita and Dolly, I failed in my intention to watch U.S. stuff all night, and gave up by midnight. That is already a late bedtime for me! A phrase has crept into my head which I have never used about anyone before because it is potentially cruel - but this usage is for Trump alone:........"The men in white coats are four years overdue."
I truly believe he should be locked up somewhere.
Dita, get better soon. Love and hugs from Trixie and me.xxxx

Morning all, Hope your on the mend Dita. Keep warm today.
First time for ages had a good night sleep, Rather misty and cold. Funny day yesterday. Sat for a couple of hours waiting for cleaning lady to come. Rang daughter who had forgotten to tell me C/L was coming Thursday instead. Daughter had arranged assessors to come Thursday but then realised she had forgotten to get her MOT. and did not tell me that either. So, pleased I am not the only one to mess dates up. Had a good scrub out of the kitchen fridge and thought I would double check. Put a small bottle of lemonade in and thank goodness by night-time it was very cold. It must be the bulb which has bust, Very pleased as I do not want any more messing about.
Looking out it is very misty, like a light fog and very cold. Still no news from USA, they are getting very fed up with all this messing about with postal votes etc, My friend over there says he is sick and tired and will be pleased when all is decided. Anyway, I hope folk buck up and start posting soon, I must be boring folk to death with my entries as nothing excitinghappens here. Fingers crossed. Take care all and keep warm. cheers Penny

Just had calls from both sides of America. Funny, one says he thinks it will be Boris and the other one says Bidden but... Both fed up with this voting business ans can't wait for it to be sorted. cheers Penny

Good afternoon everyone. After reading Penny's remark about folk bucking up etc. thought I had better put the effort in and post, I see you are on too Vannin thank goodness. It is a dull lot today, I have so much housework to do and only myself to do it, I am going to have to get someone to help me out because it is getting too much, it is also the same as my garden it is now getting overgrown. When my husband was here I seemed to have an incentive to keep me going, but it is hard to imagine now that I was his carer all those years, now I have only myself to cater for and I am suddenly going down hill fast. Do you realise how lucky you are Penny ? Anyway despite everything I do hope your husband keeps improving.

Hope yourself and cute little Trixie are both ok Vannin, I am not looking forward to the fireworks tonight, and I agree with you about Trump, I have yet to imagine anyone who is so full of himself. Take care everyone and Love and hugs to yourself and Trixie from Dolly and me xxx
